The Next Philippine Looper Couple
Jao Sauco and KQ Quiray
@jaosauco and @kqkque
Yamaha XSR 900
They both belong to the fitness and wellness industry, KQ a certified yoga teacher and Jao is a licensed wall and rock climbing instructor. They also run an online deli shop selling a good selection of cheese, cold cuts and wines, Hungry Cow Manila.
Both Jao and KQ started with scooters in 2018 to find ease in their daly grind to work. When the pandemic hit, and there's really nothing else to do, they started going farther with their bikes. Bulacan, Laguna, Caliraya, Quezon, Batangas, and the list goes on.
They figured they can go even farther with bigger bikes and so they planned on getting one. They both first enrolled at Honda Safety Riding Center to get formal training on how to ride manual transmission motorbikes. After which got their hands on a Honda Rebel 500, a shared bike they built their skills and confidence on. Six months after, they both upgraded to a Yamaha XSR 900.
Each ride is memorable for this couple because 90% of the time it ends up to be a "Budol Ride". A planned half day ride to Caliraya became a whole day ride to Atimonan, Quezon. A loop ride to Quezon with no itinerary extended to 18 hours of travel to complete a 570 km trip on their Vespas. In the most recent one, they were joined by equally crazy bikers in doing a 660+ km Bondoc Peninsula Loop that lasted 17 hours, 12 hours of relaxed riding, 5 hours of delubyo and deliryo combined. HAHA.
For this couple, riding is like breathing. They just simply couldn't live without it. They ride for errands, for leisure, for life!
Since they ride everyday, and they always ride out in full gear, they go for basic pieces that would fit the look when they ride either their Vespas or their XSRs.
Their goal is to explore more places on 2 wheels, and hopefully do the Philippine Loop soon.
When they ride out, they always say "Hangga't may kalsada, bira!"
